Summary

In the 1960s a Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age flint flake knife was recovered from this site, along with a number of Roman pottery sherds and tile fragments, and possible Roman daub. After ploughing in the 1960s further Roman pottery sherds were discovered, and in 1969 brick tesserae were also found. Dark patches of earth, a 'clay wall', much iron slag and charcoal were also noted, along with a large number of colour-coated sherds. It is thought that this may have been the site of a Roman kiln or iron working site.
