Summary

The site of the second hall in Haveringland, dating to about 1580, and replacing the first hall (NHER 7521). It was demolished in 1840, when the third hall (NHER 7518) was built. Cropmarks of the old building can be seen on aerial photographs.

Site of second Haveringland Hall.
Built around 1580 superceding NHER 7521.
(S1) notes that a plan of 1674 shows it about here, and so does an estate map of 1807 (copy in file under NHER 7521) showing it standing at head of lake.
Demolished in about 1840 when new hall at NHER 7518 built.

See account in (S3). (S4) reproduces a picture of this building on a map of 1738 showing two slightly projecting wings, a piano nobile and mansard roofs.
It was demolished in 1841, very little material was reused in the later hall, but stone was sent to Swannington rectory.
