A human jawbone was discovered during works to install new services within St John's House. This building lies on the site of St John Evangelist's in Conesford Church. The jawbone was found by workmen as a small trench was being dug within the southwest corner of the building. The fill from which the jawbone came had been recently disturbed, presumably during construction of a ground beam for the building in the 1970s. No undisturbed archaeological deposits were encountered. The jawbone presumably came from a burial within the confines of St John's which had been disturbed during original construction of St John's House if not before. The jawbone was reinterred in the trench.
