Map

A post medieval moat, associated with Sparham Hall (NHER 4209), is seen as an earthwork on aerial photographs and recent (2017) visualised lidar data (S1-S3). The feature can be seen as an earthwork on the 1946 aerial photographs (S1). The moat has subsequently been partially infilled, most notably in the eastern section of the feature. The central and much of the western section of the moat are visible as earthworks on recent (2017) visualised lidar data (S2) and on recent (2022) aerial photographs (S3). As the moat is seen on S2 and S3, it is likely that the feature still survives as an earthwork. The moat is also recorded on the Ordnance Survey 1st edition 6" map (S4) and the Ordnance Survey 2nd edition 25" map (S5).
