Full Description
Cropmarks on St Joseph aerial photographs 1956-7 SP 41.
Site examined by R. R. Clarke (NCM) 22 August 1958 but no traces of occupation found.
Nothing visible on field where root crop had recently been harvested..
E. Rose (NAU), 19 January 1978.
See copy of Cambridge University Committee for Aerial Photography (CUCAP) in file.
9 July 1992. NLA air photography.
Shows more of the circular cropmark than CUCAP photograph, and a different segment, showing it is clearly circular and is in fact a causewayed enclosure.
The linear and rectangular marks noted by CUCAP are more recent field boundaries.
Information from D. Edwards (NLA).
E. Rose (NLA) 19 January 1994.
28 June 1996. NLA air photography.
Cropmarks of a causewayed enclosure are visible, bisected by field boundaries.
Two elongated rectangular positive anomalies are visible, possibly indicating where structures have stood.
S. Massey (NLA), 9 October 2001.
1997. Aerial Photograph Interpretation.
Aerial photograph transcriptions by Royal Commission on the Historical Monument of England as part of the 'Industry and Enclosure in the Neolithic Project'.
Regarded as a possible causewayed enclosure. Only a few potential causeways could be positively identified and its date was therefore seen as uncertain.
See publication (S1) for further details. This work is also noted in (S2).
P. Watkins (HES), 21 March 2017.
November 2008. NBIC Northeast Norwich Scoring Project.
This monument is in close proximity to several possible ring ditches and Prehistoric monuments (see NHER 12786, NHER 31742, NHER 36471 and NHER 36750).
H. Hamilton (NLA), 20 November 2008.
