Full Description
1978. Field Observation.
An icehouse was identified during a visit to the grounds. Under a mound, a flight of red brick steps in a tunnel descends to a cylindrical chamber which was full of rubbish. The inner door is now missing. The brickwork appears to be 19th century and graffiti in the tunnel includes a date of 1888. One example of graffiti is dated 1811, but this may not be genuine.
Visited by E. Rose (NAU) 15 June 1978.
