A small number of Roman pottery sherds were recovered in 1956 by workmen preparing the site for the new bridge over the Waveney.

1956. In preparing site for new bridge over Waveney on line of Roman road, sherds found 2' to 3' (0.6m to 0.9m) below level of river bed. Grey ware sherds, one fragment of Samian ware. [1]
