Full Description
Finds known to have been recovered in Rackheath during the 20th century but with little or no additional information regarding provenance.
FINDS IN THE NORWICH CASTLE MUSEUM
The NCM holds a Mesolithic flint blade core from Rackheath. This is part of a collection of objects from various Norfolk parishes donated to the museum by H. F. Thoules in 1933 (NWHCM : 1933.161).
Information from museum records.
The NCM also holds a Neolithic (or later?) prehistoric stone axehead that was found "near Rackheath" . This object was donated to the museum by Major T. H. Russell in 1946 (NWHCM : 1946.87.2). The petrology of this object was examined and identified as ferruginous sandstone (N.13). See (S1). Information from (S2).
Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 1 October 2014.
