Summary

It is recorded that in 1971 some iron working debris was recovered at this site, however work on this site in 1979 recovered only a few sherds of medieval and post medieval pottery and a post medieval buckle, and no further evidence of metal working.

28 September 1979. Same spot. On gas pipe line on arable surface; poor light and soil conditions.
Three medieval and five post medieval sherds and fragment of post medieval bronze buckle. Extent of scatter not known; much late post medieval (modern) pottery not bothered with.
No slag discovered.
