Summary

This routeway has been identified as an early turnpike road dating to around 1740. This road is believed to have run from Watton to Dereham.

Initially the road was thought to date to the Roman period as suggested by (S1). However, after further documentary research it appears that the road is an early turnpike dating to around 1740 as it is referred to as the new road from Watton to Dereham (S2).
