Summary

This small flint-built church dates mainly to the 14th century. It has an unusually long Norman nave and the south doorway is also of this date. Like many churches there was extensive restoration work undertaken in the nineteenth century (1867). Inside are several fascinating features including a beautifully carved reredos, carvings of angels and a highly individual octagonal font dating to the 14th century which was transferred here from Watton in 1840. In addition the bell, which was made by John Draper in 1606, was rehung in 2000 after undergoing careful restoration.

Full Description

Norman nave with south doorway; unusual chancel and sanctuary date to the late 13th century, with the windows being 14th century in date. The tower dates to the 15th century and this may also be the date of the roof.

Human skull discovered as the result of erosion and reported to NLA by police to check age.
Adult, mandible and teeth missing, central part of face smashed.
