Summary
Construction work to extend a sewer in 1961 recovered Roman pottery sherds, including samian ware, part of a human skull, leather fragments and animal bones over 1.8m deep in peat.

1961. Found in extending sewage works. 6ft (1.8m) deep in peat.
Roman sherds including Samian and part of Human skull; leather and animal bones.
Leather, sherds [1] and skull [2] in NCM.
