Full Description
'Manor House site 1681' written on NCM map.
2 August 1978. Visit by E. Rose (NAU).
Site totally overgrown and inaccessible owing to dykes. Is the position accurate? - it seems an odd site for a manor house, and note Old Hall Carr to north, in a somewhat similar topographical position.
E. Rose (NAU) 2 August 1978.
1843 Tithe map gives no helpful information on this site, but called the field on south of Old Hall Carr, Old Hall Field.
E. Rose (NAU).
Marking on NCM map is only the centre of area as marked in (S1); marks ditched (moated?) island to west as site of hall, and area to east as hall yards. This is based on records of 1681 that call field to east across road Old Hall Field, and Old Hall Field on tithe map is called Old Hall Pasture Close. These latter names therefore probably denote ownership rather than siting.
E. Rose (NAU) 31 August 1984.
