Summary

The curving parish boundary between Besthorpe and Morley as well as several field boundaries are suggestive of a medieval deer park boundary.

Parish boundary between Morley and Besthorpe, and field boundaries, indicate a possible park boundary.

The curving field boundaries described above are clearly visible on the aerial photographs consulted (S1-S3), and earthworks have been recorded to the east, within the grounds of Morley Old Hall (NHER 54743). However, there was no direct evidence for the park pale itself visible on the aerial photographs.
