Summary

This area is marked as 'Island House' and 'moat' on early maps. The site was destroyed between 1939 and 1945 when the airfield (NHER 9235) was built.

Site marked as 'Island House' by Ordnance Survey in (S1), and as 'moat' on (S2).
Destroyed 1939 to 1945 in building airfield, when perimeter track was carried right across site.
No traces remain either side of this.

This area was examined as part of the National Mapping Programme, but none of the available aerial photographs were of a date early enough to show the moat in existence.
