Summary

In 1965 a collection of Roman, medieval and post medieval pottery sherds were found here. Subsequent metal detecting in 1978-79 and 1987 found two copper alloy Roman coins, a Middle Saxon sceatta coin and more sherds of pottery. Some of the pottery types identified included Roman grey ware and samian ware and the Roman coins were identified as ones dating to the reigns of Constantine I and Hadrian.
