Map

April 1976. Visit.
17th century house at Wolferd Green. Three storeys with shaped gable. 2nd storey has alternate black and red bricks. 'Spear' iron clamps. Blocked windows in side wall. Projects from range of cottages which on one side is in same style, with black and red bricks and blocked window, but probably later in date; other side definitely later.
E. Rose (NAU), 24 April 1976.

Listed building description dates this to the 18th century and says it is a wing of a larger building.
E. Rose (NLA), 25 November 1998.

August 2000. Brief visit.
It should be explained that the section of the main range with brickwork in older style is that projecting south from the wing with shaped gables; this is probably a fragment of the larger house as described. The much later section is that which projects north. The listed building description dismisses these as 19th century, of no interest. However a 19th century catslide is attached at the rear suggesting the cottages are older; they are stated to have had a timber frame until recent years when this was replaced in breezeblock. But they are certainly later than the main house, which is stated to have been restored internally.
E. Rose (NLA), 10 August 2000.
