Summary

A number of human remains have been found in the gravel quarry here. Some of them may date to the Early Saxon to medieval period.

1968. Field Observation.
Exposed in side of gravel pit.
Tibia and fibula - heads to east. Details in fieldwork notebook.
E. B. Green (NCM) and T. H. Mck. Clough (NCM).

1972. Casual Observation.
Skull and leg bone fragments. Consultant [1] says they are Early Saxon to early medieval type, mature male.

January 1983. Casual Observation.
Northeast edge of pit, 46cm (1.5ft) below surface just below plough layer.
Fragments human bone including almost complete lower jaw of same type as 1972 finds.
Donated to Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1983.85).
