D. Gurney (NLA), 13 August 2003.
May 2003. Trial Trench. Contexts 1 to 33.
Single trench excavation within footprint of proposed extension to the church building.
Revealed a number of graves. One of the burials lay partly below the foundations for the north wall of the church, below the blocked north door. Two others may pre-date the cut for the foundations, whilst the majority post-date the construction of the church. This sequence of at least one burial below the present church foundation may suggest the presence of an earlier church, either of wood or masonry, although no physical evidence for this structure was found.
See report (S5) for further details. The results of this work are also summarised in (S6).
An archive associated with this work has been deposited with Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2024.207).
M. Horlock (NLA), 29 August 2003. Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 6 March 2015 and 20 October 2024.
March 2009.
Proposal to improve the networks of paths around the church to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act.
See (S7) and (S8).
H. White (NLA), 1 April 2009.
