Full Description
The Rectory, 21 Oak Street.
September 1976. Field Observation.
Visited by E. Rose (NAU).
Early 18th-0century former rectory house, two storeys with attic, five bays and two dormers. Front door off centre. Dentilled cornice. Stone (stucco?) quoins. Front stucco but south gable wall brick, including contemporary two storey extension; around latter on main gable wall the arrangement of windows and chimney stacks harks back to 17th-century styles. Now used as part of garage; in good condition.

Listing Description excerpt:
"Early 18th century. Formerly The Rectory. Red brick with stuccoed front with quoins. Steep slated roof with coped gable ends and heavy modillion eaves cornice; two storeys and attic. Five windows. Sashes with glazing bars. Right hand doorway with pilastered case with entablature and blocked rectangular fanlight, later glazed door. Two flat-roofed dormers with cornices and casements. End brick chimney stacks. Left and right-hand returns (north and south ends) projecting two-storey bays with hipped roof and modillion cornice..."
