Location

Civil Parish EAST WINCH, WEST NORFOLK, NORFOLK

Map

1970.
Roman sherds found in 'Priory Hall Field East Walton'.
Grid reference given in (S1), TF 724 167, is obviously wrong.
Farmer at Abbey Farm states that this name has not been used in living memory for any field in this parish, which is mostly covered by his farm.
The name does not occur on 19th century estate maps or on (S2).
E. Rose (NAU) 1 July 1981.

Correct grid reference obtained from (S3); field is Priory Hill, not Hall, and is in East Winch not Walton.
E. Rose (NAU) 28 September 1981.
