Summary

Excavation work in the 1970s-80s found the remains of several Roman kilns (with associated pottery) as well as prehistoric human inhumations. Other finds include a coin of the Iceni tribe and a gritstone quern.

1971. Excavations by King's Lynn Archaeological Society.
Work uncovered a possible Roman kiln along with Roman and Iron Age sherds and a flagon. Additionally, domestic refuse was found and this comprised a gritstone quern, animal bones, clay kiln bar fragments, Roman pottery (including a ring-necked flagon in a polished black fabric) and an 'Iron Age B' sherd.

Silver Iceni coin found by [2], possibly from this site. This coin is included in a large find scatter [1] and the KLM may have more information about this particular find and the large scatter.
