Summary

A very fine Neolithic long narrow flaked flint axehead was found in a sugar beet harvester at this location in the late 1970s. A systematic fieldwalking and metal-detecting survey of part of this field in November 2006 recovered prehistoric worked flints, burnt flints, a single medieval pottery sherd and a number of medieval and post-medieval metal objects.

1 Neolithic very fine, long, narrow chipped flint axe with slightly polished cutting edge in grey flint.

November 2006. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey. Extended to whole field [2].
Field survey on proposed line of Norwich Northern Distributor Road (Field 23).
Finds recovered included:
15 prehistoric worked flints.
13 ?prehistoric burnt flints. were recovered from this field.
1 medieval pottery sherd Later finds included a medieval pottery sherd, two medieval copper alloy mounts,
2 post-medieval coins, 12 ceramic building material fragments and 1 handle backplate.
Several undated lead and copper alloy objects.
