Summary

Analysis of aerial photographs in 1983 identified positive cropmarks believed at the time to mark the site of a medieval moat. However, examination of subsequent aerial images and lidar imagery has confirmed that these cropmarks were likely formed by natural geological conditions, drainage, and farming activity.

Examination of available APGB aerial imagery and lidar imagery reveal no evidence for the existence of buried remains of a medieval moat.
The cropmarks which appear in the 1977 imagery appear to be formed by a combination of natural geological conditions, drainage, and farming activity.
