Summary

This is the site of a Bronze Age round barrow which was excavated in 1937. The excavation recovered flint flakes and pottery of unknown date.

Small tumulus.
Near heath boundary due northwest of the place where a hedge juts out into the arable field at the northeast corner of (S1).

Excavated by J. E. Sainty and A. Q. Watson, 18 September 1937.
Flakes, and small piece of pottery broken in two (seen by R. R. Clarke (NCM)) found in infilling.
Also a few small fragments of charcoal.
Dug trench towards centre, mound dug by warreners after rabbits.
Undateable pottery.

No sign of mound in ploughed field.

This barrow is likely to form part of a Bronze Age barrow cemetery (NHER 55865), which includes five other barrows.
