1987. Fenland fieldwalking weathered ploughsoil drilled.
Context 1 general scatter. MRM AQ.
1st millennium BC pottery (Iron Age or Bronze Age) few flints and quite a lot of medieval pottery. Most of the latter from vicinity of road but no concentration.
Context 3 at 7272 1090. MRM 22.
Sparse spread of pot boilers, no flints 42m east to west maximum and 22m north to south minimum (ground too boggy to record in detail) at 6.9m OD.
Context 4 at 7278 1093. MRM 23
Concentration of Bronze Age/Iron Age pot moderate to abundant some bone fragments moderate quantities of burnt pebbles and some pot boilers and a couple of flint hammer stones. Core area stained grey. On sandy soil plateau with a spread down into a hollow in northeast corner 75m northeast to southwest x 55m northwest to southeast approximately maximum at 7.6 OD.

Concentration sparse pottery and flints. Pot provisionally Iron Age but flint ought to be earlier although quite a reasonable amount of it. Sparse pebbles and some pot boilers as well. Sandy soil, flint. Slightly grey stains. Maximum 53m north to south x 50m east to west at 7.3m OD.

Sparse concentration pot boilers and couple flints on edge of slight hollow. Maximum 32m east to west x 37m north to south at 7.6m OD.

1) medieval bronze gilded lobed buckle plate, semi-circular outer part pierced with a rivet. Punched decoration forming V-shaped band delineating two circular fields, each with a rivet. Folded and cut along H-shaped edge for a pin. Back of plate broken.
2) medieval cast bronze ewer leg.

Roman headstud brooch. Short wings with two grooves. Soldi head loop. Moulded flat bottomed foot. Running chevron along bow with red ?colour enamel. Stud probably not enamelled. Late 2nd century.

Unusual medieval strap-end, incomplete buckle plate and a fragment of gilt spur buckle found. Also medieval/post-medieval large triangular lug from a cauldron and a fragment of a vessel rim. A post-medieval incomplete buckle frame and a jetton were also recovered.
