Full Description
Possible moat at Saxlingham noted on NCM 6 inch (S1) map.
NAU aerial photographs (S2) taken in 1979 show earthworks of missing sides.
E. Rose (NAU).
October 1979. Viewed from road.
Dry ponds retained the shape shown on Ordnance Survey map (S3), and area of cropmark has large undulations, which seem to confirm identification as moat.
For further details see note [1].
E. Rose (NAU).
July 2002. Visit.
Field under head high crop of beans, access to 'pond' area impossible. Member of the public [2] said ponds are wet, and that earthworks are no longer visible in field when ploughed.
H. Paterson (A&E), 16 July 2002.
Management Statement signed 22 August 2002.
See copy (S4) in office file.
H. Paterson (A&E), 30 August 2002.
