Summary

The site of a Bronze Age barrow is marked here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. In 1976 it was visible and stood about 1m tall. In 1979, however, it was destroyed. No artefacts or features were found during the destruction. In 2005 three prehistoric flint flakes and possible Roman pottery sherds were found on the surface.

1976. Visit. Site of barrow.
Mutilated mound, 10m diameter. 1m high, covered in elders on edge of field. Edges ploughed.

Destroyed October 1977 by member of the public [1] after notification of schedule received.
Site walked by A.J. Lawson (NAU) who found nothing. Member of the public [2] told A. Rogerson (NAU) that nothing was found during the destruction.

Some later editions of Ordnance Survey maps have the word 'mound' as antiquity written by mistake against a pit half a kilometer to the south. The word was meant to refer to this site.
