R. R. Clarke (NCM)

Barrow about 27m (90ft) diameter and 1.2m (4ft) high.
Very overgrown with bushes. Stands on north edge of deep gravel pit.
Rest of common now cultivated and ditch which surrounds barrow has been partly ploughed away on north.
M. W. Thompson from (S1), November 1959.

Could not be found; either quarried away, ploughed flat or in dense plantation to north.
A. J. Lawson (NAU) 16 March 1976.

(S2) makes it clear this is the scheduled barrow, not NHER 3668 as formerly entered.
E. B. Green (NCM), April 1984.

(S2) in file, scheduled with NHER 3666.

Slight rise in ground of old heathland, between 2 sections of plantation. Information from gamekeeper [1] with 40 years employment on estate that barrow had been flattened 15 years ago, as it was being 'quarried' by villagers, and decimated by rabbits.
H. Paterson (A&E) March 1991.
