Full Description
1963. In southwest corner of field.
Early Saxon spindle whorl made from Roman pot sherd.
Summer 1979. Metal detecting. Same site.
Roman brooch with enamelled decoration; related to group of disc brooches most common in 2nd century; consists of copper alloy disc with two finials; much of enamel now missing; some bright blue on finials, traces of red in central ring area; pin attachment on rear but pin missing.

Pre 1996. Stray Finds.
An examination of various privately-held collections by F. Healy identified a range of prehistoric objects that are recorded as having been recovered in this here (although they may have been found across a much bigger area than indicated by the current mapped extent of this record).
The majority of these finds were in the Younge collection. Worked flints included:
1 multi-platform core.
43 flakes.
10 blades (of which four are white patinated and heavily corticated - ?Mesolithic)
1 Neolithic leaf arrowhead.
70 scrapers.
1 scale-flaked knife.
1 backed knife.
1 notched flake.
15 misc. retouched pieces.
Pottery sherds included:
9 Early Neolithic bowl sherds (flint tempered, one with out turned rim and hollow neck)
4 Beaker comb-impressed sherds.
1 late Beaker sherd(motif 33).
2 rusticated Beaker sherds.
11 indeterminate Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age sherds (of which one incised with row of chevrons).
Finds in the Orange collection included:
1 flake.
2 scrapers
