Summary

Finds of Roman coins, brooches, building material and other objects indicate the former presence of a Roman settlement. Aerial photography in 1996 showed the cropmarks of old field boundaries that probably related to the settlement. Part of the site has now been quarried away.

Aerial photographs show that the field which produced the majority of material was quarried away by 1986 and is now water-filled. Only the field to the west survives. This is the field in which cropmarks were noted; records also suggest a small number of finds came from this field.
K. Powell (HES), 5 November 2012.
