Summary

A 17th century house on the site of an earlier moated manor. The house is L shaped and of high quality construction. Alterations were carried out in the 18th and 19th centuries, probably to produce a more fashionable layout. The house is one of a number of moated sites in the area, but the reason for their concentration here is not known.
