Summary

In 1954 a male human skull was recovered from the banks of the River Yare. This skull is of an uncertain age, although at the time of its discovery it was suggested that its morphology pointed to a possible Mesolithic date.

From bank of River Yare:
Human skull. Donated to Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1954.65). See photographs (CM 630-634) in file.
Identified by C. P. B. Wells as from a male 30-35 year old male. Dated as potentially Mesolithic - this was however on morphological grounds only and must therefore be treated with caution.
