Summary

In 1707 a hoard of Roman copper alloy coins, dating to the third century, were recovered from Thurton parish. The hoard included coins minted under the emperors Gallienus, Victorinus, Tetricus, Quintillus and others.

1707. Marked near Sandy Lane.
R. R. Clarke (NCM) says no evidence for Sandy Lane site as formerly on Ordnance Survey.
(S1) says found in barrows.
Probably a 3rd century brass hoard including Gallienus, Victorinus, Tetricus, Quintillus and others.

Urns and sword found, marked on Ordnance Survey east of Sandy Lane. See NHER 10312.
