Summary

A flint blade, probably Bronze Age, was found in 1958. Fieldwalking in 1986 recovered many flint flakes and pot boilers. Metal detecting in 1997 recovered a Roman coin.

Context 1, general scatter over field. Many flints and pot boilers.

Field survey on proposed route of bypass (Field 005):

A143 Brockdish-Needham Bypass.
Observation and metal-detecting of stripped surface.
No archaeologically-significant features observed and no finds recovered.
See report (S6) for further information and NHER 31423 for details of unstratified metal objects recovered from relocated topsoil being used to form banks at unspecified locations along the bypass route. This work is noted in (S7).
