Full Description
Moat (OS). Visited 1990.
A subrectangular homestead moat situated on flat ground. It is complete and waterfilled and measures 56.0m north to
south and 36.0m east to west. The arms are 1.5m deep and 11.0m across at the widest point. A modern footbridge spans the east arm. The interior of the moat is an orchard and is covered with nettles, but there is no evidence of a former building. (S1).
R.J.Rickett (NAU) 7 September 1990.
November 2025. HER Enhancement: Forestry Commission Project K.
The earthworks of the medieval moat are visible on visualised lidar data form a survey flown in 2021. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently 2021 it is likely that the earthworks still survive.
J. Powell (Norfolk County Council Environment Service), 26 November 2025
