Summary

In 1975 a small earthen mound, covered in grass, was recorded on the golf course here. It is unlikely to be a barrow and is most probably a modern feature.

Map

On golf course.
A small mound 11m diameter, 1m high covered in grass. Probably modern.
A. J. Lawson (NAU) 9 December 1975.

Originally recorded in the parish of Eaton, now part of Norwich.

December 2009. Norfolk NMP.
The mound described above was not identified on the consulted aerial photographs. Its recorded position lies only 38m southeast of a small, circular clump of trees depicted on the Ordnance Survey 2nd edition 25” map (S1) and visible on the aerial photographs (such as (S2) on which the barrows to the south, part of NHER 9549, are also visible). It is perhaps possible that the mound described above represents the remains of this clump of trees, although the latter may still be visible on more recent aerial photographs (such as (S3)), which would conflict with the description of the mound as grass-covered. Either way, no features corresponding with this site have been mapped by the NMP.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 7 December 2009.
