Summary

In 1976 a thin scatter of Neolithic worked flints was recovered from the ploughed surface along side of Deep Road. Metal-detecting in 2014 and 2015 recovered a Neolithic/Bronze Age retouched flake; a Late Saxon pottery sherd; medieval and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval jetton and Late Bronze Age to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Late Bronze Age sword handle fragment; a Roman cable bracelet fragment; a medieval lead pot mend, unidentified object, strap fitting and buckles; a medieval/post-medieval chafing dish fragment, candlestick base fragment, lead weight and buttons and post-medieval clapper bell fragments, a buckle and a spur terminal.

1976. On ploughed surface along side of Deep Road, on top and slope of ridge, almost as far as valley bottom to south. [1].
Thin scatter of flints, probably Neolithic.

October-November 2014. Metal-detecting. Site extended to the northern and southern field boundaries and 20m-80m to the west. [2].

Late Bronze Age sword handle fragment (S1).
Roman cable bracelet fragment.
1 Late Saxon pottery sherd.
Medieval lead pot mend, unidentified object, strap fitting and a buckle.
Medieval/post-medieval chafing dish fragment, candlestick base fragment and buttons.
2 post-medieval coins, 1 jetton, clapper bell fragments and a spur terminal fragment.
