Summary

Originally a house and brewery dating to 1620, the current house is from 1722, and is of cement rendered brick. It has two 19th century cottages attached to its former east face. It is reported that the property was damaged by wartime bombing, but has now been renovated.

Despite Ordnance Survey marking as an antiquity, (S1) states site was first developed in 1620 when a house and brewery were established here. In 1640s the trained bands met here.

Present building is dated 1722 however (Listing says 1727) and is of cement-rendered red brick, with two 19th century white brick cottages attached to former east face.

Badly damaged by bombing, now renovated.
