Full Description
'On or near the Chain Farm, Brandon Creek' (not on Ordnance Survey). Exact spot unknown.
Looped palstave found.
Now in Cambridge University Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography.
Information from Ordnance Survey card.
(S1) gives two palstaves in Cambridge University Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography from Brandon Creek which he calls
'Southery, Cambs'. One is No.52.4, probably the above, the other is No.45.31. Are they from different sites, and are they from the Norfolk or Cambs part of Brandon Creek?
E. Rose (NAU) 22 June 1982.
(S1) is wrong, according to Cambridge University Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography.
45.31 is simply Norfolk unprovenanced, 52.4 is the above object, but no indication in Cambridge University Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography records as to whether it is from Cambs or Norfolk. It was donated by Hastings Museum.
E. Rose (NAU) 30 July 1982.
