Summary

This great house probably dates early 17th century. There is a late 17th century north wing. The house was altered during the 18th to 20th centuries. In 1932 an unusual, perhaps 17th century, force pump system for a water fountain was recorded.

Listing Description excerpt:
"Farmhouse, formerly Ingoldisthorpe Hall. Late 16th century or first half of 17th century. Originally perhaps an 'H'-plan house, south gable of east wing now removed and centre extended to form 'L' plan. Two storeys, attics to west wing only. Carstone, some galleting, brick dressings. Pantiled roofs and plain tiled roof to centre wing...Central gable porch with brick dressings, round headed brick chamfered arch... Two-storey later 17th-century projection with lower roof from north gable of west cross wing…
Interior: ground floor at north east has bressumer fireplace of former east cross wing. West cross wing has stile and muntin panelling with frieze to first floor at south, attic has butt purlin roof with arched bracing and no ridge. Additional wing to north west has stile and muntin panelling to ground floor, ground and first floor fireplaces with bressumers."

A number of structures in the grounds of this house were listed Grade II in 1984, including a barn to the west (NHER 69580) and various garden walls and associated gateways to the south and east (NHER 69581).
