Summary

Manor Farmhouse, situated on a bend in Norwich Road, is a unusually lovely piece of local architecture dating to the 16th century. It is largely timber-framed, with brick stepped end gables and a thatched roof, and an odd three-storeyed stair-turret in the centre of the north side. There is also a 17th century wing to the southeast, with a steep pantile roof, and to the southwest stands a 17th or 18th timber-framed barn.

D. Robertson (NLA), 7 July 2006.

February 2008. Building Survey.
The house appears to contain three or more building phases. The first phase has been identified as the west section of the house. Two service doorways to the east, and a grand south window may suggest that this was the hall to a building that has now been demolished. The kitchen or backhouse may have been added as a replacement to the demolished building, before the parlour cross-wing was constructed. The first floor north tie beam has a dendrochronology felling date of 1594/95.
See report (S2) for further details.
