Summary

Foundation digging here in 1951 discovered a medieval refuse pit containing pottery, an unidentified brass object, shells, bones and iron slag.

1951. Found in digging foundations on new council housing estate, by right hand side of track from Ringstead to Bluestone Farm.
Refuse pit 1.22m (4ft) deep containing pottery, brass object of unknown purpose, shells, bones,and iron slag.

See file for brass object - like a bent tuning fork with yellow plate fitting between blades. Bent to make ring by finder (though was originally curving in shape).
