Map

Base of cross turned upside down and used as mounting block by Shirehall. Seen in 1930s.
Photograph in (S1).

However informant believes it to be a stone pad to support a wooden post in the basement of the adjacent town hall.
One such post and base still survives and visible through a glass panel in the Anglia Building Society. Another has been replaced by a steel girder, which informant believes is the origin of this stone.

For details of building see NHER 20972.
