Map

Icehouse.
Constructed in about 1780 (date of house) for George Hogge, Lynn merchant. No tunnel; door straight to pit. Wooden floor in poor condition over shaft 2.4m to 2.7m (8-9') deep. Ventilation shafts 22cm (9") square rise like chimneys from dome. Information from owner, as interior now blocked off. He believes ice was imported, but more likely from pond to northeast.
E.M. James (KLM), April 1980.

The description sounds more like an ice well.
E. Rose (NAU).

(S1) states that the icehouse is possibly a 19th century addition.

Member of public says site was filled in 'some years ago' as of 1992.
