Map

1964. Casual Observation.
An antler object and a quantity of animal bone were recovered during constuction of a coffer dam on the north bank of the Little Ouse, which was required for road and bridge repairs. The remains were found at a depth of 5 feet (1.5m) beneath the river bed.
The object was determined to be made from polished red deer antler and is incised with a spiral design. It has been pierced to allow for hafting and is described as a hammer or mallet. However, it was noted that there are not signs of ware on the object and therefore it may have had a ritual significance.
Information from journal note (S1) and bulletin note (S2).
