Full Description
Pre 1934. In garden of 'Marsh Side'.
Coin of Constantine.
R. R. Clarke (NCM)
Pre 1935. Same site.
Seal, oval in shape, of black stone. On obverse an imperial personage in military dress and helmeted, facing left, holding staff in right hand. Reverse: centre, an oval boss or perhaps a sheep, two small leaf branches above, conventional leaf scroll below. Well executed. Seal had been broken into three pieces and repaired (in antiquity?) by mounting the pieces (held together by some wax) in an oval bronze ring with a small hole at each end for attachment.
J. K. St. Joseph, 1935.
