Summary

The number and type of objects recovered from this area is thought to suggest 2nd to 4th century occupation during the Roman period, with oyster shells and personal objects have been recovered. The large number of Early Saxon pottery sherds retrieved, as well as metal working debris, a comb and brooch fragments and animal remains, also indicate that settlement also took place during that period. Metal detecting has also recovered medieval and post medieval objects, as well as a Bronze Age sword fragment.
