Summary

A complex of fishponds connected by a series of channels is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs. The fishponds are locally thought to have been for breeding eels, and they may date back to the medieval period.

1976. Seen on air photographs.
Complex of ponds and interconnected water channels.
Ground visit found most filled in, three remained maximum depth 2.1m and width 11m.
Local informants stated these were eel ponds for breeding eels for eating. Possibly of medieval origin.
