Full Description
Pair of mortar spigots.
One partly buried in dune, one exposed and almost overturned.
E. Rose (NLA), 1 April 1981.
See record form (S1) in file by source [1], who adds: Two 1940 spigot mortar gun emplacement bases, about 10m apart.
D. Walker (NLA) July 1996.
May to November 2004. Norfolk Rapid Coastal Survey.
These are probably two of the four two spigot mortar bases recorded as NHER 41429 (which is located 40m to the east of). It is thought that the location of NHER 17148 was estimated using a map. As it is very hard to locate features in sand dunes without the use of electrical surveying equipment, the location recorded for NHER 17148 is probably incorrect.
D. Robertson (NLA), 18 May 2006.
